I love the Snowflake Challenge Scavenger Hunt, but I was drawing a blank on what to answer for most of the questions this year, until I had a bit of an epiphany this morning while half-asleep, and then I hit my stride 😄 I prefer to use brick-and-mortar/physical objects because it feels more like a "hunt", but it can also be more challenging to find something physical for each question! Still, the challenge is part of the fun 😊

Snowflake Challenge #5: Search in your current space, whether brick-and-mortar or digital. Post a picture (a link to a picture will be fine!) or description of something that is or represents:

1. Something your favorite character would like

This was one of the first ones where I blanked, because first of all - how can I choose just one favourite character?? But even thinking about some of my faves, it was hard to pick a physical object I'd associate with them.

However, I realised that I had an object that Sakurayashiki Kaoru, aka Cherry Blossom, my favourite character from SK8 the Infinity, would probably like:

Close up of a fluffy black wristband with three cherries across the centre.

Actually, it suits him, doesn't it? 😄

An image of Sakurayashiki Kaoru from SK8 the Infinity wearing a Paint edited wristband with cherries on one wrist.

Haha, well, he'd probably wear it with his Cherry Blossom outfit and not as part of his traditional Japanese attire, but it was easier to find space on his wrist in this outfit 😉

2. Something that makes you laugh

My dear friend [personal profile] christycorr recently gifted me this plush octopus, who is the grumpiest boi in the world and I love him so. He's so sparkly and pretty, and so very grumpy about it! :D

A galaxy-patterned plush octopus with a very grumpy expression and downturned mouth.

BUT he has a hidden happy side...

A pale blue star patterned octopus plush with a happy expression perches on the corner of a laptop, with a Christmas tree visible in the background.

Pictured here perching on my laptop :D

3. A fandom place you would like to visit

Close up photo of a green metal bookstop featuring Peter Pan in silhouette flying above a pirate ship.

You might recognise this bookstop from my previous post about Peter Pan live action remakes. Who wouldn't love to go to Neverland?

Though it would need to be the 2003 live action Neverland (or the animated Disney one, that seems fun) and not the 2023 Peter Pan & Wendy Neverland, which looks horribly dreary.

4. A fandom creator (pro or not) you'd like to meet

Close-up on the spine of Nimona by ND Stevenson, on a bookshelf next to Molly Knox Ostertag's The Girl From The Sea.

I would be beyond thrilled if I could ever meet ND Stevenson in person, though I would probably find it very hard to be cool and not just act like a demented fan xD I didn't realise until later that Nate was in the UK on the Nimona press tour, and he did a Q&A at a live screening of Nimona at the Barbican!! Ahhhh if only I'd known.

(I sat Nimona next to Molly Knox Ostertag's The Girl From the Sea, because they should be next to each other ^^)

5. Something you find comforting

A dark green sweater dress on a hanger, with a gold sequin star visible on one sleeve.

I got this sweater dress from Avon, and I love it because it's snuggly and soft and I can put it on and disappear inside it. It has a hood, as well as a kangaroo pocket for storing things in! And it's got stars, which are my favourite motif, on the sleeves ^^

6. Something from a favorite TV series or movie from your childhood

A miniature set of wooden panpipes hung on a long, plaited string of colourful wool.

I mentioned in my Peter Pan post that I have a pretty much lifelong obsession with Peter Pan, and my favourite film when I was little, hands down, was Disney's Peter Pan. This is probably also the source of my love of panpipes. I bought this miniature set at a Christmas market in Nuremberg - they were intended as a keyring, but I took that off and plaited a string for them to hang on. (They can really be played!)

Recently I wore them to a stage production of Peter Pan at the Gate Theatre, Dublin - not that anyone really noticed, but the significance was there :D

7. A piece of clothing you love

A folded blue T-shirt with a design of Hello Kitty sitting down and holding a cup of bubble tea (which is almost as big as she is), surrounded by sparkles.

This T-shirt of Hello Kitty with bubble tea, aka Boba Kitty, was also a gift from [personal profile] christycorr (she knows me exceedingly well :D) It is so cute, and I adore it <3

8. A book or song with a color in the title

A row of book spines on a shelf. In the centre is Ultraviolet by RJ Anderson, with three books by Gillian Cross to the right. To the left are Joan Aiken's The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, Paul Meloy's The Night Clock, and Joan Aiken's The Wolves of Willoughby Chase.

Ultraviolet, by RJ Anderson! The first book I read with this title was actually Lesley Howarth's Ultraviolet, which is a futuristic dystopia featuring virtual reality, and then I found out about the much more well-known book series of the same name. I have a soft spot for the "original" Ultraviolet because I love virtual reality, but it's not very good. I liked RJ Anderson's Ultraviolet! Here it is pictured among some of my teen and children's books. I love Gillian Cross.

9. Something only someone in your fandom would understand

Three panels from the comic FENCE, volume 5. In the first, Seiji Katayama gives the viewer a roguish look, and says, Should I be jealous that he's your new rival? In the second, Nicholas Cox blushes and looks away, saying, Uh... In the final panel, still blushing, he says, You know, Kyle said something about you and Jesse... Seiji asks, What?

"Oh my god, they were rivals..." (FENCE fandom joke!)

I invested in the first six or eight Fence books (I had to get them mailed, since I didn't have a local comic books store that I did any business with!) and it moved so slow that I gave up on it. I hope it still going on, however and it has found it's footing...

I love your Peter Pan bookshop and Neverland would be fascinating!

That's a great list and thank you for sharing it with us!
