New Year, New Sticky!

It's that time again (
snowflake_challenge time!) and I've decided to refresh my blog sticky post ❤ While I was originally going to keep the old one and just make light edits, I decided to remake the whole thing, but a lot of the text will be familiar ;3
Transformative Works Policy: Blanket permission to transform! You can find this over on my AO3 profile. I made this official a couple of years ago and have received so many lovely podfic adaptations of my fic since then (especially during Voiceteam!), which was probably predictable but I didn't see it coming at all 😂 Rock on, podficcers! Maybe one day I'll finally join you...
Fannish Things I Love to Do: You'll always find me writing fic, and I'm trying to make more time for fanvids in my life (so many ideas, so little time X3). I draw the odd fancomic, and I also love to edit wikis - primarily Fanlore but also fandom-specific wikis, which are a resource I call on constantly during my fic writing, so I like to give back, too.
Some of my recent fandoms have been: D&D: Honor Among Thieves, FENCE, The Murderbot Diaries, Across the Spiderverse, and SK8 the Infinity; I feel like I fall into new fandoms a bit too easily, but I'm always excited to come back to my past fandoms and rarely completely "leave" them.
Where to Find Me: Social media-wise, I'm mostly on Mastodon (I have my profile set to request to follow - I don't mind follow requests, but I prefer to have some idea of who the people are that are following me) and Tumblr. I've also just started (as of this Snowflake Challenge!) posting to Pillowfort, so please say hi if you're also there, as I'd love to make some friends! But I also want to be more present here on DW, so please also come hang with me here if you're not on any of the other sites (or even if you are!)
Fanworks-wise, I post mainly to AO3 and cross-post to Fanfiction.net if it's a fandom or ship that I think people there will want to read. I use SquidgeWorld for miscellaneous things I don't want to post to AO3. I have published fic to Tumblr in the past, mostly for The Strange Case of Starship Iris, but I still haven't got around to setting up a proper page for it. You can also find my vids on Youtube and Vidders.net.
I wish everyone a healthy and happy 2024!

Wow!
Date: 2024-01-05 10:06 am (UTC)I am in awe.
I can use wikis, but cannot update them. My brain does not work that way. Which is unfortunate because my writing notes are many thousands of pages globbed into MS Word files because that is a thing I can use.
*bow respect to the master*

Visit the Add Me communities, they often get more traffic in January.
If you want to post more on DW, consider recurring posts. They make it easy to maintain activity, because you don't have to think of something from scratch all the time. Plus it's a good way to highlight the main topics of your blog.

Heh, thank you very much XD I can only say that I enjoy that kind of information sorting (and I also find wiki markup pretty manageable), but it's not for everyone!

I'll check them out, thank you! I like that there are some fandom- and hobby-specific ones.

Yes, I've made a note to try and do some of those on DW! I've seen people do Three Good Things on Mastodon as well. Maybe that can be my starter 🤔
Thank you for the recs!
Re: Wow!
Date: 2024-01-08 12:00 am (UTC)I think it depends on how different brains work. Mine is very good at fractal thinking -- I can easily sort main topics, subtopics, details, etc. I also excel at breaking a complex process into simple, actionable steps. But try to fit that into a set of boxes on a screen and not only do I have problems, there's a high chance that the program and/or computer will start to convulse or possibly crash.
Diversity makes the world go 'round!

Yeah, there's all-purpose

Yay!

I just realized that I forgot to include a "By the Numbers" section in my Recurring Posts. So I've added that. Thanks for the tip.

Date: 2024-01-05 02:52 pm (UTC)Do you have wisdom to share about editing wikis? I am currently sadly failing to keep up with chronicling the kpop podfic page on fanlore, and venturing into working on some stuff on the squidge wiki but it’s mostly showing me that I know nothing about organizing a wiki.

Date: 2024-01-06 11:57 am (UTC)Ahhh, it's so cool that you're editing Kpop stuff on Fanlore! I will say that the Kpop Podfic page looks like quite a hard page to do because you have to keep updating it, there's always going to be new works and creators to account for, and it's a very broad topic area. I'm sure some people like that kind of wiki updating, but personally I find it easier to tackle pages that are about a trope or something that's reasonably evergreen, so you don't have to change it as much; or else that are more constrained, so maybe it's about one challenge and you can keep updating it when the challenge runs but there's not a huge amount to add (or look for) each time.
Have you thought about working on any pages like that, or is it less what you're interested in? I can offer more thoughts about finding pages to create or edit, but I would definitely say don't beat yourself up about not being able to keep on top of a huge area, it's always going to be a massive task and everyone is doing this in their free time!
