Oh no, I'm really sorry that you don't have the right hardware for vidding! :( I'm really lucky that my partner is a professional AV technician who has serious business tech of his own. It's come in so handy (and I can also ask him for spot Adobe Premiere help xD). For all the years that I thought longingly about vidding but didn't know how to start, I always thought that getting the source material would be the tricky part. But I would have instantly run into the hardware issue if I tried to do it on my personal laptop ^^; I hope that you can upgrade your setup in the not too distant future! Or find one to borrow...
Ah, I'm glad someone else can relate to the challenges slog xD It's partly my own doing because I'm bad at constraining myself and both fics I wrote were chunky (not huge in the grand scheme of things but not short little challenge-appropriate ficlets either xD). Making my Festivid didn't feel tiring in the same way and it was a really nice change of pace, but it still did mean putting more or less everything else aside until it was done. (I feel like I haven't really come to terms with the fact that I can work on other projects, now xD)
Congrats on finding a better balance, I hope you keep that! <3
