Le gasp, it's that time of year again already!

Thank you so much for being my gifter, for considering making a treat for me (I have gifts enabled and treats are so welcome!), or for otherwise taking an interest in this letter ^^

In general, I'm open to most things in a vid/gift - while I'll put a few preferences below, they're not that strongly held, because I find a wide variety of things interesting and cool. So, feel free to be unorthodox; feel free to get creative; feel free to make whatever you're inspired to by the fandom material 😄

General likes

Lyrics that match well with the visuals of a vid, especially those moments where it’s really bang on with what’s happening in the clip – love that
Pretty much any genre of music – though I admit that death metal would be an unusual choice for my requested fandoms, but otherwise, my preferences with genre are generally “yes”. Whatever you’d like to use for the material, I’m on board with. That includes instrumentals with no lyrics if you’re so minded (I’m a fan of classical music, and there are many epic orchestral pieces that I think can make great fanvids!)
Upbeat or hopeful vids/visuals, although I’m on board with angst – I’d just prefer to stay on the “bittersweet” end of the spectrum rather than “tragic”
Shippy vids or vids that focus on any kind of relationship between characters (friendship, queerplatonic, mutually obsessed enemies)
Vids that tell a story
Very open to non-traditional vids with creative combinations of visuals/audio/sound (which for some, non-visual, fandoms is needed of course, but even if it’s not, go for it!)

General dislikes

Dialogue in vids is not a hard 'no' for me, but I prefer it to be used more subtly – rather than to be audible all the time – so that the focus can be on the lyrics/music and visuals. I enjoy some good sound effect inclusion, though!
Hopeless or bleak vids (i.e. "hurt no comfort") – as I mentioned, I’d prefer them to be hopeful in some way, and bittersweet if not outright upbeat (not every fandom is a ray of sunshine!)

Specific fandoms

Baman Piderman (Web Series)

I've been a lover of this silly, cute little web series for well over a decade, but I hadn't thought about it in years until I saw the news about SmallBu regaining the rights to publish the series to their own channel and even continue it. An incredibly nostalgic trip through all the episodes ensued!
If you decide to go with this fandom, I would enjoy Literally Anything, but here are some particular likes:

Pumkin/Squib cuteness
General Pumkin-centric anything; he is my self-conscious lil fave
Pumkin & Squib & Tuba friendship as well as Baman & Piderman & Pumkin friendship, in fact everyone friendship
Piderman/Wanda cuteness
Anything that leans into the more surreal/horror-esque elements of the show is welcomed and enjoyed!
Sillyness and weirdness – it's such a heartwarming but also bizarre show, and that's why I love it

Also, I consider Baman: Noir Detective to be part of the canon so feel free to also use footage from that episode.

Fandom-specific DNWs:

I'm less interested in Dese Guys than in the other characters but their friendship with Red Squib is also pretty cute, so it's not a hard no, just a soft preference!

Jonathan Creek (TV)

This TV series is an all-time fave, and I love how funny it is. My favourite seasons are the first 3 seasons (including the 1998 Christmas Special) with Caroline Quentin as Maddie Magellan, and I would love a vid that focuses on her relationship with Jonathan, whether romantic/shippy, focused on their friendship, or on their on-again-off-again friendship/romance dynamic. I'd particularly enjoy something that leans into their dysfunctional, snarky tendencies.

Jonathan and Adam Klaus are also a really fun duo and I would love something comedic focusing on them, or just on Jonathan and his love of mysteries and puzzles and magic. What with Jonathan being a mastermind of magic tricks (and a magic aficionado in general), I would really enjoy a vid that leans into the magic angle. In general, anything light-hearted with hijinks and shenanigans, or mystery and intrigue, would be extremely well-received <3

Fandom-specific DNWs:

I don't mind some footage or mysteries from the later seasons (post-s3), but I would prefer the focus to be on earlier seasons! I would particularly like to keep things pre-2013 special/season 5, because I don't believe in the universe where Jonathan Creek becomes a high-powered businessman 😅

The Road to El Dorado (2000)

🎵On the traaaaail we blaze! 🎶

This film has a load of heart and silliness and I would love to see anything leaning into its humour and the chaotic vibes of its two leads. Tulio and Miguel are truly inseparable and I would love a vid that centres on their friendship and adventures – I'm open to a more romantic angle as well if you want to go down that route. (You barely have to squint 😂)

I'm also a Chel-lover and so I would really dig some Tulio/Miguel/Chel OT3 vibes or just a Chel-centric vid. Something focusing on Miguel and his love of El Dorado could also be fun – or Al Tivo, whom I was reminded during a recent rewatch is kind of the MVP of the whole film, constantly pulling amazing manoeuvres to help or save our heroes in the nick of time. (Along with Chel, for that matter!)

If you want to forgo centering the main trio at all, something that looks at the rivalry/tension between Chief Tani and Tzekel-Kan would be really interesting.

No Chel-bashing, please, or bashing any one of the three (Miguel, Tulio, or Chel), otherwise just have fun!

Peter Pan (2003)

I love this film’s depictions of the characters and of Neverland, particularly Peter and Wendy, so I’d love a focus on their relationships and interactions – or something about Peter and the Lost Boys hijinks/found family (including Wendy, Michael and John ideally). I also enjoy the John/Tiger Lily ship and am very happy for that to be a feature (or focus if you think there’s enough material).

The pirates are fun villains and I’d also be up for something focusing on Peter and Hook’s rivalry – just not shippy please (see DNWs). Or something about the worldbuilding of Neverland, which I think is really great in this film, could be super fun!

Fandom-specific DNWs:

Peter/Hook – as mentioned, I’m up for a focus on their relationship, but I’d like it not to be with a shippy slant
Wendy/Hook – ditto
A focus on Wendy growing up – I don’t mind it being featured if you want to go in a bittersweet direction, but the main appeal of the canon to me is the childhood whimsy, so I’d like that not to be the main focus of a vid.

Accepted (2006)

Accepted is a really heartwarming film about a group of awkward misfits who create a place for other awkward misfits to be themselves and learn and grow, and I love that (even if there are some very 00s tropes and jokes that may not have aged amazingly).

My requests for Accepted are basically "pretty much anything, please??" There are strong found family vibes within Accepted and throughout the whole school, and I would love a vid that leans into that. I'm happy for this to be taken in a fun, upbeat direction ("yay for misfits!") or a more angsty direction ("it sucks when people don't accept you"), preferably with a sweeter/hopeful ending or some hopeful notes along the way.

I enjoy all of the friendships depicted in the film, particularly B & Schrader, B & Schrader & Hands, and Rory & Glen, so I would love something friendship-centric. Wacky hijinks would be delightful. I also like Rory & Abernathy a lot and read their connection as possibly queerplatonic, and I would be very happy if they were featured prominently.

Fandom-specific DNWs:

While I'm okay with B/Monica, I'd prefer it to stay in the background and not be the focus of a shippy vid, because I think they're just so-so. I'm more interested in the friend-ships!

Questionable Content

QC is such a long, established webcomic that there's an absolute wealth of characters, themes, subplots and subjects to choose from, and I'm into pretty much all of it - but if I had to pick an area of focus, it would be the AIs. From Momo and May to Bubbles, Beepatrice, Millefeuille, Roko, Melon and of course the weirdest AIs of all, Yay/Spookybot and Moray X-21, I adore all of these varied and weird characters. I also love their relationships with the humans they're close to, such as May's friendship with Dale and with Marigold (and Momo's with Marigold), Pintsize's dysfunctional friendship with Marten, Bubbles' romance with Faye, Winslow's support of Hannelore, Millefeuille's budding friendship-or-more with Brun, and so on.

So, I would love to see anything focusing on AI characters and/or the relationships with the humans they're close to - or just with each other! If I had to pick a favourite AI duo, it would be Roko and Yay (who I headcanon as queerplatonic although their connection can easily be read as romantic, or potentially romantic - and it seems like this *might* have been recently confirmed in-comic?), with Melon thrown in for extra fun and weirdness. May and Momo are a close second as a pair of opposites who nevertheless look out for each other and clearly care about each other a lot. My favourite human/AI duo is Brun/Millefeuille (whom I would love to see become a couple, or simply spend more time together in-comic), with Bubbles/Faye coming second.

There are some past (human) ships that I could happily leave like Marten/Dora (they always seemed a bit doomed), but honestly, no really hard nos that I can think of? Some of the very early humour is a little mean-spirited, but I wouldn't say a hard no to the earliest strips making an appearance because they're still good stuff!
